We’re honored to walk alongside you from the very first visit, where we take time to understand both your pet’s veterinary history and the life you’ve built together.

To help us prepare, we kindly ask that your previous veterinarian forward medical records to staff@aahvmd.com before your appointment. This allows us to provide thoughtful, informed care from the start.

During your first visit, you’ll meet with Dr. Thomas and our team in a calm, low-stress environment where we’ll review past records, perform a gentle nose-to-tail exam, and discuss your goals and concerns. We believe in medicine that listens—because your story matters as much as theirs.

​We have extensive experience working with rescue pets and understand that their journeys are often marked by trauma, transition, and resilience. Whether your companion is adjusting to a new home, learning to trust, or simply settling into a new rhythm, we meet them with patience and empathy. Our care is always tailored to their needs—with thoughtful accommodations and extra time when needed.

If your pet has specific fears, anxieties, or past traumas at the vet, please let us know in advance. While we design every visit with Fear Free principles in mind, we’re happy to make individualized adjustments to help both you and your pet feel as relaxed as possible. This may include using our private entrance to avoid a busy reception area—especially helpful for dogs who are not dog-friendly or pets who are easily overwhelmed.
